I Really Need Your Help...

Together, we can successfully raise $1 million dollars for The Heart Foundation

Help Me Raise $1 Million

To Raise $1million I need help with $25k first to get my crew & I on the road!

Why Do I need $25,000?

I will be running 5,400kms from Perth to Brisbane starting mid 2015, it will be a colossal event that you'll see online, on TV, in print media and beyond - I'm doing this so that I (Hearts Across Australia) can contribute $1 million dollars to The Heart Foundation. $25,000 allows me to get on the road with my support crew and gives us the minimum we need to survive whilst we trek across Australia! Without the $25,000 we need to get started, we won't be able to raise the $1 million - so I'm calling on everyone I can, to help me, help a great cause that touches lives all over the world.

What Will the $1 Million Achieve for The Heart Foundation?

  • $1

Improvements in heart health & heart health care resulting from cardiovascular research produces an estimated saving to the economy of $8 for every $1 invested!

  • $25

Understanding how heart cells work is a key element to preventing & treating heart disease. $25 provides one of the most basic lab tool necessary for such work – a petri dish.

  • $40

Understanding why blood clots, & how these clots can be removed or prevented is key to treating heart attack & stroke. For $40 a researcher can isolate blood cells, which can then be used to study blood clots.

  • $100

A hundred dollars pays for a DNA test that can help determine the genetic factors that are important in heart disease. Such knowledge can help to identify people at high risk of heart disease. Such knowledge can help to identify people at high risk of heart disease, & lead to new, innovative treatments.

  • $120

High blood pressure can lead to many serious health problems such as heart attack, heart failure, stroke & kidney disease. Researchers use ‘sphygmomanometers’, worth $120, to measure blood pressure & explore links to health & lifestyle.

  • $200

Research assistants are an invaluable part of any research project. $200 will help a cardiovascular researcher to pay for one day of their vital lifesaving work.

  • $300

Solutions begin with an understanding of the problem. For $300, a researcher can obtain an antibody to detect viral or bacterial infections in the heart.

  • $2,000

Two thousand dollars pays for the examination of a persons genetics, to help determine the importance of genetic factors in heart disease. This can facilitate greater understanding of how & why heart disease effects certain people & lead to new, innovative treatments.

  • $2,500

Study of human behaviour that leads to heart disease is just as important as medical lab work. $2,500 allows the purchase of specialised software that is necessary for such work.

  • $10,000

Hands-on experience & education is vital to establishing the next generation of great scientists. $10,000 funds six months of research for a Heart Foundation PhD Scholar.
